Some people thought that having a dark-skinned president will give them an excuse to ignore the ongoing problems of people, of whatever color, who are treated poorly. I understand that. I heard this argument long before the election. Some people thought that having a dark-skinned president will give them an excuse to ignore the ongoing problems of people, of whatever color, who are treated poorly.

I understand that. Many people would like a respite from hearing about the pains of society, but no more so than the people who have those pains.

Those who read articles like that are left thinking about something they hadn't considered usually close the article and ponder what they had just read.
